Minister of Information Daud Aweis: Somalia Takes a Major Step Toward Advancing National Education

One of the most significant priorities of the Federal Government of #Somalia has been to expand access to quality education across the nation, including recently liberated areas formerly controlled by the Kharijites militants, Al-Shabab.

In pursuit of this vital goal, approximately 39,000 students across 39 towns have today sat for their national secondary school leaving exams.

His Excellency Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre officially inaugurated the examinations in Mogadishu, signaling a renewed commitment to educational development and national progress.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the Somali government is deeply committed to enhancing the quality of education nationwide.

He underscored the importance of these examinations not only for individual student achievement but also for the broader future development of the country.

This successful rollout of the national secondary school exams marks a pivotal achievement in Somalia’s ongoing efforts to rebuild and strengthen its education system.

It demonstrates the government’s commitment to inclusivity, even in previously insecure regions, and signifies a major step toward equipping Somali youth with the skills needed for sustainable development.

By prioritizing security and logistical coordination, the government is not only safeguarding the integrity of the examination process but also fostering hope for a more stable, educated, and prosperous Somalia.

This initiative sets a foundation for future educational reforms and underscores the country’s resilience in overcoming longstanding challenges to education access and quality.
